This morning we reflected on our day yesterday. Funny that we were noticing events and situations that directly correlated with the scripture that we picked to “chew on”. We picked,
2 Timothy 2:22-26 (NLT)
23 Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. 24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. 25 Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. 26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
We decided that our “endurance” needed some balance from all of the fast paces we have recently been experiencing, so we decided to turn the phones to silent, get into pajamas and watch a movie. Typically we do not have any time for that! Well, we made time. We watched the movie “Hidden Treasures”. It was an amazing movie and a great true story. At the end, we both felt refreshed and were happy that we did absolutely nothing and worried about nothing as well. One of our favorite scenes in the entire movie was when the black – female – engineer was facing the white – male – judge in hopes to be accepted into an (at the time) all-white school to further her education and advance her career/dreams of being a NASA engineer. She was successful. She displayed an example of Paul’s instructions to Timothy (ministering at Ephesus) in verse 23 (above). I often find myself quarreling and very impatient with others when I am attempting to reach my goals! I find myself putting “the blinders” on and “steamrolling” selfishly for my success. She displayed patience and also boosted the judge’s self-esteem at the same time and achieving her goals showing integrity and grit.
No bible study this morning – off to church. Have a great Sunday.
